I am confident equestarian sports are one of the most spectacular sport disciplines. Show jumping is the one I am mainly interested in. The goal is a rider on a horse should ride through a course with various obstacles within an allotted time. The pair is supposed to jump over obstacles without knocking them down. Every fault results in penalty points, so the less points the better. Penalty points are also given for refusals - situations where the horse stops in front of the obstacle and refuses to jump. Only limited number of such disobediences is allowed and the contestant is disqualified after exceeding it. This sport is very dynamic, each ride takes about a minute, maybe two. Show jumping requires a lot of practise of course, as it can be dangerous. It can happen that the rider falls from the horse and gets severely injured. Most of the horses like running and jumping so defenders of animal rights shouldn't be worried. They should admire how greatly horses cooperate with humans instead.

I believe England is the country where this sport is the most popular. It can be done both outdoors and indoors, in special riding arenas called also riding halls. Riders should wear riding caps, which in fact are special helmets worn for safety, and a pair of riding boots. The horse harness and the saddle are also required equipment. Show jumping is the discipline I have been admiring for many years. I used to ride horses when I was young, now I don't have enough time for it. But I enjoy watching it on TV.
