Hillsborough Castle is not a true castle. It is a two-storey Georgian country house. This impressive 18th-century mansion is dating back to 1797. It is the home of the Governor of Northern Ireland and an offficial residence of Her Majesty Queen Elisabeth II. Hillsborough Castle and its gardens are a very famous tourist attraction. As an historically important building, this mansion passed into public ownership in 1920s. It may be used for functions by charitable organisation.
