In 1968 the construction of the monument commemotaing those who were executed at Majdanek was started and a year later it was unveiled. The Mausoleum,to there the ashes from the Mound were moved. From the architural point of view, the Mausoleum combines two traditions: the pre Slavic custom of putting ashes into urns and the anciend concept a Pantheon a place where people of special merit were buried
