- A representative of the Canidae family, live in Australia, New Guinea, and recently it was found that most likely belong to the subspecies of the wild dogs in the area of Southeast Asia and the Philippines. Based on genetic studies, it was found that the ancestor of the dingo arrived on the continent probably before 3.5 thousand years with one of the later waves of settlers from South-East Asia. Dingo were originally domesticated companion, however, re-wild in Australia. Similar to the domestic dog, which gives fertile hybrids, however, differs from the many important features, such as construction of the skull. Perfectly adapted to the environmental conditions, neither the Australian nor Asian dingo population shows no downward trend. It feeds on rabbits, small marsupials, kangaroos and pets. It lives up to 14 years.
