(Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela; Mvezo, Transkei, 1918-Johannesburg, 2013) a South African activist and politician who led the anti-apartheid movements and who, after a long struggle and 27 years in prison, presided in 1994 the first government to put an end to the racist regime. The twentieth century left two world wars, the extermination camps and the atomic terror, but also great champions of the fight against injustice, like Mahatma Gandhi or Martin Luther King.
