Zakreśl A, B, C, D Friendship Days had been celebrated in many countries for a long time , but it was not until April 27, 2011 that it was formally declared as an international celebration by the United Nations . The UN made a resolution to hold it annually on July 30, the date when it was first observed Paraguay in 1958 . In fact , the history of this celebration goes back even earlier than the late 50s of the previous century. This wonderful ideas was probably originated by Joyce Hall , the founder of Hallmark greeting cards , in 1919 . He chose the fist Sunday of August to be the time when people were supposed to send each other friendship cards ( and in countries Friendship Day is still celebrated on this day) . The concept did not take off the USA because people considered it to be far too commercial and promoting the sales if the cards rather than the idea og friendship . By the 1940s , the holiday had lost its appeal completely . However , some other nations, especially the people of Asia and South America , kept the idea alive so , thanks to them , it survived until our times. In particular , we should be grateful to the people of Paraguay , where the World Friendship Crusade was born. It was established in the 1958 as'a foundation that promotes friendship and fellowship among all human beings , regardless of race , colour or religion. The UN looked for inspiration in that monifesto and modelled their own on the Sought American one. After the Paraguawan organisation was established people from different countries kept sending petitions to the UN to declare Friendship Day an international event. Eventually , in 1998 , the UN narmed Winnie te Pooh to become the symol of the holiday and the world's Ambassador of Friendship at the UN.Eventually , thirteen years after that , so many people's dream , including mine actually , came true- the holiday became a reality Many people believe that it was the Internet , no the petitions or even Paraguayans who had actually contributed to the establishment of the holiday . Sending greeting cards became easier due to digital revolution and so the idea of Friendship DAy was popularised across the globe , making the UN just accept it ! Nowadays , well- wishers send each other cards , flowers or fiendship bands and hold special events in order to demonstrate their belief in this 'friendly' idea ! Why don't you join the club then ? And don't worry if someone accuses you of supporting a commercial idea, because it isn't. 1.2 Which of these facts is true ? a Friendship Day was not received with enthusiasm in the USA b.
