The movie revolves around lives of two very different teenagers: the daughter of the town's Baptist minister, Jamie and a faded aimless high school senior Landon.
One night a prank that he and his buddies set up goes terribly wrong and lands a kid in the hospital. As punishment, Landon must tutor young student at poor school and participate in the Drama Club's Spring. When Landon realizes that he needs help in learning his role for the production, he asks Jamie to help. She agrees if he promisess not to fall in love with her, to which he responds by saying:'That's not problem' Eventually, Landon is intrigued by Jamie's positive attitude, forgiving nature and overwhelming faith and Landon falls in love with Jamie.. but she is ill very seriously.
