Importance Of The Renaissance The renaissance was a cultural movement. it began in the 15th century in Italy. It encompassed a revival of learning based on classical sources and views, the development of linearcentury perspective in painting, and gradual but widespread educational reform. This intellectual method has resulted in the renaissance being viewed as the bridge between the middle ages and modern era. People being more confident and were not as afraid to say what they wanted as in the Dark ages. There were many new discoveries during that time, which help us now. Instruments were made e.g. Lute, Sackbut, Shawm, Serpent, Crumhorn, cornett. Some of the instruments were modified but still used today. In the renaissance painter paid more attention to details. They started highly realistic linear perspective. They began adding shadows and painting things smaller or larger depending on how far away they were. Leonardo da Vinci lived during the renaissance and was a very talented man. He was a Painter, Mathematician, Inventor, Scientist, Sculptor, Military Engineer, Astronomist, Zoologist, Botanic, Geologist, Optic, and was interested in Anatomy, Aerodynamics, Hydrodynamics and Physiognomy. He invented the catapult, bicycle, helicopter, auto-mobile, military weapons, the tank, leo chute, diving suits, water lift, machine gun, calculator and thread cutter. In astronomy Copernicus (Mikołaj Kopernik) had a theory that the Earth was not in the middle, but the sun was. This was called the Heliocentric theory. This theory was confirmed by the astronomical data collected by the Danish astronomer Tycho Brache and Johannes Kelper, the establishment of the scientific method (which is, as many observe, is still used and taught in schools today--and is an important part of assessing whether a scientific field is a pseudoscience or not, for example--astrology), and was accompanied by the presence of some of the greatest minds in the history of science. Galileo also proved that Copernicus was right. He also made his own telescope. In art there were many changes such as adding shadows and perspective. Sculptors started sculpting Sculptures that were 3d and you could walk round them. People started studying Anatomy and looking at how the body was built. Because of this now we know how the body looks and how it is built. When Johannes Gutenberg invented the Printing Press, people started publishing books so their ideas would spread quickly. many people published books in Latin, but not everybody could read them. Others published books in Italian so everyone in Italy could read them. The Printing Press revolutionized the way people would learn. The architecture was beautiful, because architects decided to continue building buildings like the ones during the Roman Empire. In some countries the renaissance was called the golden age because people were rich and they felt safe and happy. There are many instruments, inventions, ideas from the renaissance that we still use today. Many rulers improved the way they ruled. The renaissance was a great time for people all over Europe, but it soon ended just because the French invaded Italy.
