Hi Elise!
How are you? Thanks for your last letter. I want to describe you the polish autumn.
Autumn lasts from 23 Spetember to 22 December.
It's a beautiful season of the year - leaves on trees change their color to red, yellow, orange, brown. Children go to the parks and collet chestnuts and acorns to make Autumn People.
The weather changes: it's colder, the wind blows stronger, days are shorter and shorter and nights are longer.
In the forest there are a lot of mushrooms - so people usually go mushrooming. Mushroom soup is really tasty!
Autumn is also connected with some holidays. In Poland, we celebrate All Saint's Day on 1st November. On that day we visit the graves of our dead family members and friends.
Some people, especially from the villages, go together for digging the potatoes.
During the autumn people prepare for winter. They collect food in pantries, fuel or firewoods and start to wear warmer clothes.
In my opinion, autumn is very beautiful! How about you?
