Maria Skłodowska-Curie was born in1867 inWarsaw,Poland. She was the daughter of a teacher and an owner of a school for girls. She married a French scientist - Pierre Curie. They invented two radioactive elements: polon and rad. Polon is named in the memory ofPolandand rad comes from a Latin word radius. They had two girls.
