The variety of breeds of dogs, both in terms of construction and disposition, has been studied by, among others international group of scientists from the universities of Utah and British Waltham Centre for Pet Nutrition, which belong to the Mars Corporation, a manufacturer of dog food. The obtained results revealed that the physical characteristics of character and are dependent on genotype. The study focused on finding small differences in the genetic material, the so-called single nucleotide polymorphisms.
