In the south and the north-west border with the United States, maritime borders in the north of Denmark (Greenland) and the east of France (the islands of Saint Pierre and Miquelon). The second country in the world in terms of area (after Russia) [1] and 38 in terms of population. Canada is a member of the UN, NAFTA, the Commonwealth, the Francophonie, NATO, G8, APEC.

Area in Canada lived thousands of years, indigenous peoples (tribes of Indians and Inuit). Started in the late fifteenth century, British and French expeditions explored the entire Atlantic coast of Canada, which resulted in their gradual colonization by the British and French citizens. In 1867, four colonies included in the British North American Confederation of Canada enacted and created the new country - Canada. The gradual process of independence from Great Britain has reached a climax in 1982, when passing a new Act of Canada (called Canada Act 1982) broke the last ties depending on the British parliament.

Canada to this day remains a constitutional monarchy with Elizabeth II as head of state and maintains a parliamentary democracy. Canada is a bilingual and multicultural country, which at the federal level there are two official languages: English and French (in their Canadian versions).
