The capital of Poland is Warsaw. It's located on the Vistula River. The area of the city covers 516.9 square kilometres. Its population as of June 2010 was estimated at 1,716,855. Warsaw is the 9th largest city in the European Union by population. Warsaw is known as the "phoenix city", as it recovered from extensive damage during World War II (during which 80% of its buildings were destroyed), being rebuilt with the effort of Polish citizens.

Poland is a country where many famous peple were born. One of them is Karol Wojtyła(Jan Paweł 2). John Paul II has been acclaimed as one of the most influential leaders of the 20th century, because of his attitude to life and belife that you have to forgive other people. He was a great poet and polyglot , but the most important he was a great person. He was beatified on 1 May 2011.
