There was little in the history of cinema films, which have managed to move the viewer to another world. The thought comes to me here immediately Neverending Story, from which images (like a big turtle in the swamps, mud, or strange creatures) I have before my eyes today, although I saw the movie only once, almost 20 years ago. I had to wait long for something that beats in this respect the work of Wolfgang Petersen. Another such film for me was Peter Jackson's trilogy "Lord of the Rings." Kingdom of the Elves, dwarves, hobbit of the Shire, Forest Entów ... each of these lands is a separate world, which could safely be moved to the big screen. New Zealander almost perfectly reproduced the atmosphere of Tolkien's Middle-earth, creating a brilliant adaptation of the best adventure novels of all time. Such projects, in addition to the great director's vision will also require a lot of money. Unfortunately, too often lacking one or the other (and sometimes both, which ends in tragedy.) James Cameron is not lacking, however, neither vision nor money, so that the "avatar" decided to pay us a spectacle, what movies did not know yet.
Watching the most anticipated film of the year I felt like a child, every day reveals another piece of the world and finds out new exciting things about our reality. Already the first minutes of the film make us aware that we associate with a monumental work. Cameron does not spare. In almost every scene is given us to enjoy some part wykreowanego for the film world. When employed by the corporation from the RDA, Lieutenant Quartich (Stephen Lang), in a sublime way speaks to his subordinates, in the background we see the amazing landscape of the planet Pandora, which does not look like a postcard pasted to the window, but the life of its own, independent from the events of the first plan. And so it is at every stage. With a completely novel method of shooting in three dimensions, and incredible attention to detail, with almost every scene, we can actually watch two movies - the proper, where the main action takes place, and the second, in the background, where daily life goes on, whether it in the database, or in the wild jungle pandoriańskiej.
A jungle is magnificent. Actually, Cameron had decided to completely ignore the story and show us only the images of his imaginary world and so oceniłbym this movie very highly. There is also no room for savings. Together with the characters we meet hundreds of plant and animal species inhabiting the world of worms. Flies in the air, plunged into the water, walks in the dense forests, climb the hanging in the air "" the mountains. And all I see is absolutely amazing!
A little bit about the storyline
But Avatar is not a nature film. In addition to visual effects, which will no doubt set a new standard in 3D cinema is a story which, despite its simplicity and naivete, is consistent and polished at least as well as other elements of the film.
So we have Jake Sully (Sam Worthington), moving in a wheelchair a former soldier who comes to Pandora to replace his twin brother, a scientist sponsored by the RDA, who was killed during an attack just before departure on the planet. Researchers at Pandora, led by Grace (Sigourney Weaver) to investigate the local nature and attempts to agreement with the people Na'vi. Since the atmosphere of the planet does not contain enough oxygen, people do not travel on it own but benefit from the aid avatars - artificial body, created on the local similarity, controlling it remotely through a complex biological computers, where it reconnects a la Matrix - - directly to the brain. Remember that the film is set in the XXII century, therefore anything goes.
The objectives of the researchers and the heads of the RDA are obviously divergent. The former mainly want to know the alien civilization, its culture and customs, and perhaps even try to understand the seemingly primitive people Na'vi. The latter view rather large deposits of raw unobtainium, the largest deposits are a strange coincidence, the sacred tree of the natives, as well as how the least violent (murder strangers look bad in the papers ") to dispose of the heavenly creatures that alone be able to extract the road and unavailable material on Earth. Here is where the role of Jake, who, after accidentally zjednaniu crush one of the blue princess, entering the ranks as a foreign spy, tasked to convince them to leave the peace of his native land, before it will enter human bulldozers. The mission of course is prolonged, and the camps of scientists and militarists can not convince each other about the rightness of their cause. Ultimately, the strength of the arguments so replace the argument of force and resolve all the battlefield between the invaders and the locals, so we watch the spectacular rozpierduchę in space.
What would this Hollywood drama, however, a decent thread without love? The avatar is an example for another niewyeksploatowanego międzyrasowego romance movies. Already at the first meeting, where Neytiri (computer-rendered, blue Zoe Saldana), Jake tries to shoot a bow, eventually stopping due to a sign from nature, it becomes clear that we have here a compound with an unusual man - Na ' vi. This relationship develops gradually, assuming the intensity with the development of the actual action, so that ultimately we feel as natural as what Max tried to explain to Lamia in the final stages Sexmission. A little more about the effects
One of the allegations Avatarowi (including by me) long before the premiere, after showing the first trailers, like the one below:
was that both strangers and pretending their avatars look unrealistically, plastikowo, rather like characters from a computer game than as living beings, which of course was to prevent empathy in history and take in the fate of their tribe. So there is definitely and clearly stated: fortunately it is all untrue. At least in 3D (I watched the movie in the IMAX cinema and all those who have the opportunity, I suggest to do the same - I am sure that it was losing a lot on the traditional big screen, and all the charm of a completely vanishes when we see it in the standard two-dimensional), both resident alien and bizarre wielonogie Pandora and the winged creatures look very real. Actually, since their first appearance on the screen accept at face value everything we see and even though somewhere in the middle we remember that all 3D animation, perfect execution makes it hard to distinguish from the real elements rendered.
In the cinema trailers shown before the show several other films in the "three-dimensional technique: A Christmas Carol and Alice in Wonderland. I do not know the technical details of realization, but I can say so much, that if these two movies have 3D elements, which are crowding us at some time after the eyes przelatującymi "next" objects or dangerous creatures attacking us (as in all other 3D pokach cinema, which I attended, being a teenager), Avatar is simply a movie in three dimensions. Effects "can not see," they are a natural part of the action. From first to last scene of the world admire and Calderon in full splendor, in many plans, barely taking in a wealth of experience we presented the film. The effects here are not there to frighten or surprise us. They are there to enrich our reception, fully reach all of our senses, allow us to completely surrender myself to this incredible expedition into the unknown, which is watching the work of Cameron.
Something like this was not yet in the cinema. This alone is worth seeing the Avatar, because we are dealing with one of the films that make up the history of science fiction cinema, like the German Fritz Lang's Metropolis 90 years ago, and Stanley Kubrick's Space Odyssey, Space, 1968.
