Becky: Hi, Chris. How’s your new flat?
Chris: Hi, Becky. It’s OK but I have to share a room. Mike’s OK but sometimes I’d like to be on my own.
Becky: Really? I get lonely when my family are out. Hey!
How’s the housework?
Chris: Not bad. Each week, we have different duties. So, this week, I’ve got to do the cooking and washing up.
Becky: That’s great. My parents should do that with my brother. Do you both do what you’re supposed to?
Chris: Yes, but I have to tell Mike several times. This week he has to clean the bathroom.
Becky: And?
Chris: Well, I wouldn’t come round for a bath if I were you!
Becky: Right! Where is the flat?
Chris: It’s on the outskirts of the town, by the old car factory.
Becky: You don’t live there, do you? That’s a terrible area!
Chris: What do you expect? I’m a student. Anyway, are you going to move out?
Becky: I don’t think so, no. I even felt homesick on school trips. I’m going to stay at home for a few more years and save as much as possible. Then I’ll use the money as a deposit and buy somewhere of my own – and not out by the old car factory! What about you? Are you going to buy a place to live?
Chris: I’ve never thought about it. I want to go abroad when I finish my studies. That’s as far forward as I’m thinking at the moment.
