karena orang yg lagi liat cincinnya itu ngomong tentang masa kini, waktu ngeliat cincinnya langsung bilang terlalu mahal, berarti present. Kalau past, artinya si orang itu bicara tentang cincin yg dia lihat masa lalu, jadinya "I couldn't afford that ring, it cost too much." cost itu irregular verb, jadi kalau past ga pake -ed
