„The Last Temptation of Christ”
“The Last Temptation of Christ” is a 1988 drama film directed by Martin Scorsese. It is a film adaptation of the controversial 1960 novel of the same name by Nikos Kazantzakis. In film stars among other things: William Defoe as Jesus, Harvey Keitel as Judas Iscariot, Barbara Hershey as Mary Magdalene and David Bowie (English singer)in the role of Pontius Pilate. This film aroused lots of controversy on the world and it could not be show in lots of country.
The film is set in the ages of life of Christ. Christ is shown as human who likes women, has sins how all people and he is married with Mary Magdalene. The plot is complicated and at times confusing. However, the cast is very strong and the film features a surprisingly competent performance from William Defoe.
As for the visual elements, the sceneries are stunning, you can imagine what Christ has problems and how he manages with these.
I would recommend the film to anyone who wants to know how could see live of Christ in different point of view and wants to see if David Bowie plays so good as sing.
