3x + 4y = 5  (2)      Despejas x de (1) Y (2)

x + 7y = 8
x = 8 - 7y  (3)

3x + 4y = 5
3x = 5 - 4y
x = (5 - 4y)/3    (4)

Igualas (3) y (4)
8 - 7y = (5 - 4y)/3
3(8 - 7y) = 5 - 4y
24 - 21y = 5 - 4y
24 - 5 = - 4y + 21y
19 = 17y
19/17 = y    Remplazas este valor en (3)

x = 8 - 7(18 /17)
x = 8 - 133/17
x = (8 * 17)/17 - 133/17
x = 136/17 - 133/17
x = (136 - 133)/17
x = 3/17
