October 2018 2 66 Report
Khapra beetle is native to India, but it has spread to other parts of Asia and other parts of the world. Considered to be one of the most destructive pests of grain products, they thrive in hot and dry conditions. They are often found in places where grains are stored, such as granaries.
These destructive beetles are surpisingly small. However, it is their size that allows them to hide themselves easily in sacks of rice and other grains that get exported to countries around the world. Infestation of Khapra beetles are hard to control as they can survive for long periods without foods. This undemanding diet is one of its strongest traits. Furthermore, it is resistant to many insecticide, thus rendering regular pesticide is rather ineffective.
From the text we conclude that ....
a. Khapra beetles can only survive in arid condition
b. Khapra beetles are never found in storehouse for grains
c. it is almost impossible to destroy Khapra beetles
d. we can only exterminate Khapra beetles using insecticide
