'Because of' dapat digantikan dengan 'on account of' dan tidak digunakan setelah bentuk verb 'to be'.

Contoh:

• I got cold because of the bad weather.
• The road was slippery because of heavy rain outside.

'Due to' dapat digantikan dengan 'resulting from' dan selalu digunakan setelah bentuk verb 'to be'

Contoh:

• My coldness was due to the bad weather.
• The slippery road was due to the heavy rain.
• It was due to the heavy rain, we could'nt continue the travel.
