It was the trip of a lifetime. We (1) (set off) from the first hostel early in the morning to walk the first stage on a path which went up and down mountains for about 25km. It was a beautiful day, the sun (2) (shine) and the countryside (3) (look) beautiful. We went up a steep hill and soon we (4) (arrive) at a small bridge over a river. The water (5) (run) fast and clean. It also (6) (feel) very cold because it came down from the snowy mountains above. After about two hours, we (7) (stop) for a rest and sat down. Then, 1 (8) (notice) some dark clouds (9) (come) in from the north, so we decided to continue quickly. But we (10) (not walk) fast enough, and it (11) (begin) raining. It (12) (still rain) four hours later when we finally arrived at our destination, completely wet.
