Why is global warming a problem? The earth's temperature is rising and this is causing changes in our climate. These global warming trends bring problems:
Drought: Some places, for example, parts ofÁfrica, have terrible droughts. There isn't enough rain. As a result, crops fail and sometimes people starve.
Floods:As polar ice melts, sea levels rise. Some countries, such as Bangladesh, already have awful floods. Other countries, the UK, for example, are also in danger.
Extreme weather: Hurricanes and cyclones are becoming stronger and more dangerous.
Why is it happening? Carbon dioxide is one of the ''greenhouse gases'' that keep the earth warm. Theplanet is overheating because the amount of carbon dioxide is increasing. This is happening because we have burned too many forests and too much fossil fuel (carbon and oil). When they are burned, carbon dioxide is produced and air around the earth gets warmer and warmer.
