The history of New York was developed during several centuries and began with the occupation of the territory by the populations of America, long before the arrival of the first settlers in what is currently in Manhattan. The negotiations that led to the current configuration of New York with a division into five neighborhoods: Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn, Bronx and Staten Island, are only remote to the nineteenth century and the first half of the twentieth century.
