this story come from north sumatra. one day, a man fished and got a big fish. unfortunately,it was a human.then, they got married with one condition that he wouldnt tell anybody about her past. several months later,toba's wife delivered a baby boy , named samosir. one day, when samosir as a teenager, toba's wife ask him to bring food for his father at farm field.

(sambungannya) but, he didnt do his duty well, in was already afternoon when he got to the farm. toba was very angry, and said "you are a stupid lazy boy! you are son of fish!". samosir was shocked, and tell his mother about his father word, suddenly, the weather changed,rain last heavily, and made it like a lake, people called it toba lake.
