I read a book of short stories called "The Fruitcake Special". It had four stories but my favourite was the second one called "The True Aunt Molly". It was about a woman who had twin boys and her husband had died, she was a widow. Molly was not very confident and always preferred to let her husband take the decisions, but when he was killed in an accident then she had problems. Her family took her to a show and she was hypnotised, and the hypnotist told her to be very confident. When she came out of the trance, Max the hypnotist had a heart attack and he went to hospital immediately. However, everyone was surprised because Aunt Molly had helped him to survive. She was now a very decided person and became very sure of herself. Everyone in her family was very happy for her. But the problem was that she was still under the effects of the hypnotist and he was in hospital. Eventually he died but he had recorded the orders to get her out of the trance. The family's dilemma, do they play the tape and take Aunt Molly back to her old state, or not? What would you do? I liked the story very much because it shows how important it is to have confidence in yourself and how this can change your life. It is published by Penguin Readers.
