In the remote south - western Chinese province of Guizhou, there is a village built inside a huge natural cave. Wang Fengguan lives there and he is proud of his enormous cave home. The village is called Zhongdopng. This means 'middle' in Chinese.
It is very difficult to get to the village because it is on the side of a high mountain. The last hour of the journey is along a narrow rocky path.
The government built some new houses for the cave people to move into. But the villagers don't want to move. They are happy in their caves. They are trying to protect their traditional way of life.
Cave life is not easy. The villages are poor and families earn around 129 USD a year. The nearest hospital is five hours away on foot! much furniture. The heating comes from wood fires.
But the caves have got some modern things. Today there is electricity and there are televisions in four caves. There is a salellite dish on the side of the mountain and villages can pick up a signal for their mobile phones .
Some villages have lived in the caves for generations. Other went to live theafter the 1949 Communist revolution.
