Historia de la civilización romana
Roma era un lugar de paso y sus primeros pobladores venían de los montes albanos y sabinos. Tras 200 años los romanos consiguen liberarse de los etruscos y poco a poco comienzan a expandir sus dominios, convirtiéndose en república primero y luego en imperio.
Leyenda
Según la leyenda Roma fue fundada por los gemelos Rómulo y Remo en el año 753 A.C. Según se dice, ambos gemelos fueron amantados por una loba luego de ser abandonados en una canoa por su padre. Al momento de fundar la ciudad Rómulo y Remo se pelearon. En esa pelea Remo murió y Rómulo se proclamó Rey.
El comercio era otra de las bases de económicas de la civilización romana. Dado que tenía dominio de la flota marítima podían vender sus productos y artesanías en sitios lejanos y obtener ganancias por ello. El método de intercambio eran las monedas romanas que circulaban por todo el imperio.
Sociedad romana
La sociedad romana se dividía en 2 grandes grupos:
Los hombres libres. Los patricios (eran terratenientes de pequeños predios), los plebeyos (campesinos, comerciantes y artesanos) y los libertos.Los hombres sin libertad. Los esclavos. Estos eran propiedad de otras personas y no podían percibir un salario por su trabajo.Vida cotidianaRol del padre en la sociedad. El rol del padre era el más importante dentro de la jerarquía familiar. Como ocurrió en muchas otras civilizaciones antiguas los padres preferían tener hijos varones antes que hijas mujeres a las cuales, muchas veces, dejaban morir al nacer.Rol de la madre. Con frecuencia la madre fallecía al dar a luz, dado la carencia de cuidados hacia su persona. No podían intervenir en asuntos de política pero gozaban de libertad y respeto.Rol de los hijos. En muchas ocasiones se los regalaba y podían contraer matrimonio (si los padres así lo decidían) a partir de los 13 años.Los esclavos. Uno de los grandes aportes de la civilización romana fue en términos arquitectónicos. El periodo de más auge en la construcción de templos fue el periodo intermedio: La república.
Aunque esta civilización construyó más edificios civiles antes que religiosos. Entre algunos de las construcciones que se destacaron encontramos: acueductos, puentes, termas, calzadas, circo, arcos del triunfo y columnas conmemorativas. El coliseo romano fue una de las construcciones más majestuosas de la antigüedad. Se comenzó a fabricar en el año 71 A.C.

La religión romana era politeísta. Poseían divinidades que eran protectoras de los hogares a las que llamaban lares. Posteriormente adoptan la religión griega donde cambian los nombres de los Dioses.
