Friendship in Five Stanzas

sometimes it's nice to just forget
about all the problems of the day
to sit and think and reminisce
about friends who've come my way

they've made me laugh; they've made me cry
but, always, they've been there
to get me in trouble or to help me out
in every tangle or snare

to be so close is quite a gift
and we have come to receive it
true friendship comes but once in life
i'd be a shame to leave it

love is there, it always is
whether platonic or romantic
i love my friends, i always will
through every whim or antic

what more to say of friends so dear?
there is so much more to tell
for friendship is a gift, it truly is
and one you cannot sell
