A great cooking day!
Hi, everyone!
You know I love cooking, don't you? Today, I want to tell you about the cooking day we had
at school last week.
Every year, usually in spring, we have special guests. Students from exotic countries such as
India, Indonesia or Mali come to our school. They spend two weeks with us and tell us about
their culture. We can ask them a lot of questions - in English, of course! We show them our
city with our teachers and spend a lot of time with them.
One day is always a cooking day. Our guests become chefs and prepare their national dish.
We always give them a hand! First, they choose an easy recipe and we do the shopping
together. Then, we go to the canteen and start cooking. We can use the same equipment
as the dinner ladies. There are electric cookers, huge saucepans, sharp knives, big chopping
boards ... It's amazing! At the end of the day, we serve the dish to the whole school.
This year, our guests were from Sri Lanka, an island in South Asia. One of the most popular
dishes there is curry. It's very popular in India too. Curry is a kind of stew. You can have it with
meat, seafood or vegetables. It's usually served with rice. It's delicious and very, very spicy!
On Saturday, I want to make curry for my family. I hope they'll like it!
