I am writing to express my opinion on the subject of mobile phones being banned at Corpus Christi High School. I personally think this is unnecessary.
First of all, over 90% of students in our school have a mobile phone. They need them to do research, as it is a great source of information, and they use them, during the breaks, to contact with friends. Obviously, not all of the students are trustworthy and they overuse the right of having the mobile phone at the school, by trying to cheat on the tests. However, not all of them. I do believe that students should be trusted to keep mobiles switched off during the lessons. This way we will also avoid the distraction to the students or teacher and disruption to the lessons. If they do not obey this rule, their phones should be taken away and given to the headmaster or to the class teacher.
Moreover, the mobile phones are some kind of insurance that if something happens at or after the school, students can always call for help. Parents are calmer, because they are aware that their child can always contact with them in some emergencies.
Although there is a possibility that the phone can be stolen which is why students should pay attention to whom are they showing their phones and where they are using them. In case of losing the phone, there must be said that school shall not be liable / is not responsible for what happened.
All things considered, the usage of mobile phones should not be banned at Corpus Christi High School. If students stick to the rules, there should not be any difficulties caused by mobile phones. I hope you will take all this into consideration and overturn the ban.
