Bronislaw Komorowski was born on 4 June 1952 in the Silesian Oborniki near Wroclaw, in a family of intellectuals with strong traditions of independence and landowners. High School Graduate XXIV. Cyprian Norwid in Warsaw and the Department of History at Warsaw University. Anti-communist activist, MP, Minister of National Defence, Marshal of the Sejm.
The activities of the opposition before 1989
XXIV He graduated from High School. Cyprian Norwid in Warsaw. As a high school student involved in opposition activities, participated in the demonstrations, includingduring the March events in 1968. The first time he was arrested in December 1971.
He participated in the actions of aid for victims of the workers in Radom and Ursus in 1976. He collaborated with the Workers Defence Committee and the Movement for Human Rights and Civil Rights. Organized patriotic demonstrations.
He was a printer, journalist, publisher and distributor of underground press. Over many years of opposition was repeatedly arrested and repressed, in a state of war he was interned.
He completed his master's thesis at the Department of History at the University of Warsaw. In 1977, he worked in the team presses PAX, and in 1980-1981 at the Centre for Social Research "Solidarity" Mazovia Region. Since September 1982 he was editor of the independent, underground magazine "ABC" (Adriatic - Baltic - Black Sea).
During the period of martial law and later, until 1989, he taught history at the Minor Seminary in Niepokalanów.

Parliament
From 1991 to 2010, was a member of the next term of Parliament. He worked in the Commission for Polish people abroad and in the National Defense Commission, followed by the Foreign Affairs Committee.
From 1997 to 2000 he chaired the Parliamentary Committee on National Defence.Since 2001, he was deputy chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on National Defense and a member of the Parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee.
In October 2005 he was elected deputy speaker of the Sejm of the V term. In November 2007, was elected Speaker of the Sejm sixth term.
Parliamentary mandate by 8 July 2010 following the election for the office of President.
Government
In 1989-1990 he was Director of the Cabinet of Alexander Hall at the Office of the Council of Ministers.
In the years 1990-1993 - in government of Tadeusz Mazowiecki, Jan Krzysztof Bielecki, Suchocka - he was deputy minister of national defense for the educational and social.
In 2000-2001, the government of Jerzy Buzek, was Minister of National Defence.
Party
He belonged to the Union of Freedom, in which he served, among others Secretary-General, then the Conservative People's Party, which was among others Vice-President.
Since 2001, he was a member of Civic Platform, the chairman of the Mazovia Region. In June 2006 he was deputy chairman of the party. It is not currently a member of any party.
President of the Republic
Following the tragic death of President Lech Kaczynski in a plane crash near Smolensk 10 April 2010, as Speaker of the Sejm, based on the provisions of the Polish Constitution, the functions of the President. This function is held to 8 July 2010, when he resigned from the position of the Speaker.
Won the presidential election 4 July 2010 he took office taking an oath before the National Assembly on 6 August 2010
