Para la geometría un prisma es un poliedro con una base poligonal con n cantidades de lados, una copia de traslación (no se encuentra en el mismo plano de la primera) y otras n caras paralelogramos que uno ambos lados de los correspondientes de ambas bases.
Un prisma con bordes e unión paralelos entre si y las caras perpendiculares a la cara de la base se denomina prisma recto. Un prisma oblicuo es aquel donde las caras no son perpendiculares a la cara de la base.
