I think Budapest has too many cars and too much congestion in the centre. This means that it takes ages to get to there, and sometimes longer to get out. This is a result of the number of people who have bought cars in recent years and the lack of new transport infrastructure. So, if I was in charge, I would ban cars from the centre and provide car-parking outside the centre connected by extra buses and trams.
In rural France we’ve suffered from depopulation for years, which has lead to an ageing population, with the majority of people now over sixty and retired. As a result of this, young people don’t have the activities and opportunities they need. Therefore, they want to leave too and the problem continues. If I was the government, I’d try to attract more small businesses away from the cities with tax incentives and make a big effort to provide good educational and leisure facilities for the young. If the government had done this ten years ago we wouldn’t be in this situation now!
