Katy Perry, actually Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson [2] (born October 25, 1984 in Santa Barbara) - American pop singer, songwriter [1], actress, entrepreneur and philanthropist, and UNICEF goodwill ambassador.

Born and raised in Santa Barbara, California, her father is a pastor. In 2001, she released her debut studio album entitled Katy Hudson, but it did not achieve commercial success [3]. Then she took the pseudonym Katy Perry and recorded two more albums: with the producer band Matrix and a solo, which has not been released. In 2007, she signed a contract with Capitol Records.

She gained popularity with the album One of the Boys, released in 2008, promoted by two world hits: "I Kissed a Girl" and "Hot n Cold". The album took thirty-third place among the best-selling music albums in 2008 [4]. In 2009, the American Billboard magazine placed Perry in the 50th position among the most popular musicians of the 2000–2009 decade [5].
