a. 3x + 1 = 7
b. 9y - 15 = 2y - 8
c. 3(x + 4) = 2x - 26
d. 1/3 (x - 7) = 5x + 7

A. 3x + 1 = 7
   3x = 7 - 1
   3x = 6
    x = 6 :3 
    x = 2

b. 8y - 15 = 2y - 8
   8y - 2y = -8 + 15
   6y = 7
   y = 7 : 6 

c. 3(x + 4) = 2x - 26
    3x+ 12 = 2x - 26
    3x - 2x = -26 - 12
    x = -36

b.  9y - 2y = 15 - 8
         7y   = 7
            y  = 1

c. 3x + 12 = 2x - 26
    3x - 2x = -26 -12
            x = -38

d. 1/3x - 7/3 = 5x + 7
    1/3x - 5x   = 7 + 7/3
        - 14/3x = 31/3
               -x = -93/42
