Let a,b,c be the three numbers. from the word problem we have a= (b+c)/2 , b = (a+c)/3 , c = a+12
Now we are going to solve this linear system a= 1/2 b + 1/2 c or b= 2a- c ----> b = 1/3 a + 1/3 c solve these 2 equations we get 2a-c = 1/3 a + 1/3c or 6a-3c = a + c or 5a = 4c or c = 5/4 a ----> c =a +12 yields ( 5/4 a = a + 12 ) multiplied by 4 a = 4a + 48 or 3a= -48 or a = -3 -----> c =5/4 a yields c = (5/4)( -3) = -15/4 = - 3.75 ---> b=1/3 a + 1/3 c yields b=( 1/3((-3) + 1/3( -15/4) = -1 -5/4=-9/4 = -2.25
Hence; the three numbers are -3 , -9/4 and -15/4 or in decimal form : -3 , -2.25 and -3.75
