1. History
The original name of the village: Nowe Wzgórze (New Hill), inhabited almost exclusively by the Polish population. According to local tradition, founded as a forest settlement in 1484r. by woodcutters, pitch and charcoal burners. In 1809, during the war with Austria, followed by the village on their way to the army Lviv Fr. Jozef Poniatowski. In 1914, the Nowinami there was a large battle in which the Russian General Plekwe moved troops defeated the Austrian Archduke Joseph Ferdinand, taking many prisoners. In the forest near the village graveyard of 1923, which was buried in 1000 who died in that battle, Austrian and Russian troops. In March 1944 in the region of guerrillas blew up the New train in retaliation for what Germans burned down part of the village. On the night of 16/17 August 1944. UPA militants murdered 18 Poles and burned most of the buildings. After this tragedy, residents left the village until 1948 (some refugees founded the new village Lubaczów Piastowe). News Horynieckie occupy an area of 5.26 km2, mają49 count of farms and 110 inhabitants. Before the war the village was almost 150 households. Despite the damage inflicted by the Germans and the UPA, in the village has survived several wooden houses from the early twentieth century, and three nineteenth-century chapel. At the eastern end of the chapel of St. John reportedly placed in memory of defeat by the army of Sobieski in 1672 the Tatar branch, which managed to avoid the massacre of Cieszanów.
