While he was studying at Kraków Uniwersity he developed a special interest in astronomy. He travelled a lot. He was visiting Rome when he saw an eclipse. When he was caming back home he made his own observatory. In 1514 he gave a book to his close friends. It put the Sun at the centre of the universe. His full observationsweren't published until he died. In fact some say he held a copy of the book when he left this world. In 1609 the Italian astronomer Galileo confirmed Copernicus` theory. However, this got him into trouble with the church and Galileo had to deny the theory.
