Dari persamaan (1), didapat:
y = 10 - 3x. Substitusi y ke persamaan (2), maka :
x² + (10 - 3x)² = 50
=> x² + 100 - 60x + 9x² = 50
=> 10x² - 60x + 50 = 0
=> x² - 6x + 5 = 0
=> (x - 1)(x - 5) = 0
Maka x₁ = 1 dan x₂ = 5.
Jika x = 1, maka y = 10 - 3 = 7
Jika x = 5, maka y = 10 - 15 = -5
Himpunan penyelesaiannya : {(1,7) , (5,-5)}
