Untuk mencari titik potong, kita terlebih dahulu harus mencari persamaan garis H dan L.
(i) Garis H melalui titik (8,-1) dan (4,1)⇒ x1 =8, y1 = -1 & x2 =4, y2 = 1.
Rumus Persamaan garis 2 titik :
y-y1/y2-y1 = x-x1/x2-x1
y-(-1)/1-(-1) = x-8/4-8
y+1/2 = x-8/-4
-4(y+1) = 2(x-8)
-4y-4 = 2x-16
-4y-4-2x+16
-4y-2x+12 = 0 atau (dikali -1)
4y+2x-12 = 0
(ii) Garis L melalui titik (-2,-1) dan (1,5)⇒ x1=-2, y1=-1 & x2=1, y2=5.
y-y1/y2-y1 = x-x1/x2-x1
y-(-1)/5-(-1) = x-(-2)/1-(-2)
y+1/5+1 = x+2/1+2
y+1/6 = x+2/3
3(y+1) = 6(x+2)
3y+3 = 6x+12
3y+3-6x-12
3y-6x-9 = 0
Titik potong Garis H dan L :
4y+2x-12 = 3y-6x-9
4y+2x-12-3y+6x+9=0
y-x-3 = 0
- Titik terhadap sumbu x ⇒ y = 0
0-x-3
0-x-3 = 0
-x= 3 atau x = -3
- Titik terhadap sumbu y ⇒ x = 0
y-0-3
y-0-3=0
y-3=0
y = 3
jadi, titik potong garis H dan L = (x,y)= (-3,3).
